Registration
Suggestions for improvement
- During some rush periods, there will be a long line of people
waiting to register. Display a big poster with the Toastmasters
educational tracks, for newer members to look at while they wait.
- To handle rush periods, it is a good idea to have at least 6
registration staff members present, spread out on 3 different
tables. At other times, the registration tables can be run by
2-3 people.
- Use a straight registration table arrangement rather than an L-shaped
arrangement. The L shape causes crowding and is inconvenient.
- Have a VIP sign-in for dignitaries, guest speakers, etc.
This will make it easy to identify VIPs and
fill in the protocol list.
- Have a professional Toastmasters tablecloth/table curtain for the
registration tables. This will look more professional and will prevent
confusion with other events.
- Encourage members to donate their old Toastmasters magazines for
free distribution at the registration table. These proved to be very
popular. Also have lots of Toastmasters postcards, business cards,
and other promotional materials available for taking.
- The registration table should be equipped to sell opportunity
drawing tickets. This is an ideal time, because people have their
wallets out and are ready to spend money.
- Think about ways to simplify the badge sticker system. Stickers need
to be easy to apply and easy to recognize.
- It is useful for marketing purposes to know which attendees are not
currently Toastmasters members.
- Be sure to have change, a cash box, and a receipt book available.
